FREE Bottle of Mataro with All Orders During March
Friday, 1st March, 2013
- Ben Parker
For the month of March we wish to draw your attention to the remarkable variety Mataro which it so happens has found its perfect climate in the Barossa Valley. Naturally we hope to sell you a bottle or two.
In any case no matter what you purchase this month we will include a FREE bottle of great, Barossa Valley Mataro with every order. The FREE bottle will be changed every week so should you spread your orders you will end up with a useful collection.
Here are SEVEN Reasons to Buy Mataro
- If you love Barossa Shiraz you will love Barossa Mataro
- Grown in a warm climate Mataro makes a deeply coloured, full flavoured, rich, complex red.
- Vine cuttings arrived in Australia in 1832 and since then Mataro has proven itself as ideal for the Australian climate.
- The largest plantings are in the Barossa Valleywhere many vines are over 100 years old and original bush vines still bear good crops.
- Experiments by Penfolds in the 1950s and 1960s proved that Mataro makes fantastic wines which age.
- A new wave of Barossa wine makers have made enormous strides unlocking the secrets of this variety and it is now ready for adventurous drinkers.
- Many of the current releases offered by Glug, are very great wines.
Currently, Glug has the best portfolio of Mataro wines ever assembled and these are on offer through March at very keen prices. Each week one will go on special. We also have many wines that contain Mataro as a significant part of the blend and we will also highlight these through the month.
Lastly I must emphasise that I cannot understand why Mataro has not been embraced by serious red drinkers. All I can imagine is that because the name is different consumers say 'why take the risk'. In any masked tasting of Barossa Shiraz, Barossa Shiraz Grenache Mataro blends and Barossa Mataro you would need the abilities of the best Baroosa winemakers to correctly sort them into these three types.
Thus you will not open a bottle of Barossa Mataro and say, 'how odd'; you will instead say, 'this is a revelation.' That is the Glug promise.
