Northern Light Of The Barossa
Kitts Creek Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017
Region: Barossa Valley
Nine dollars buys a pretty good red on Glug though for a few dollars more you can enjoy World class wines like this Kitts Creek Shiraz. The first Kitts Creek Shiraz was the 2008 and most vintages since the winemakers have found three or four barrels which express the far Northern region of the Barossa Valley.
We named the wine after the pioneer settler village of St Kitts which was in the hills, beyond the northern limit of the Barossa, though apart from the two churches which are private homes the village has gone. As I often say; to be involved in the making of quality Barossa shiraz is what brought us to live here.
Most of the fruit comes from growers in the northern half of the Barossa, a region we prefer for Shiraz and like most of our wines was made using open vat fermenters, basket pressing with maturation in old oak hogsheads. This is the process we like and we are most happy with the results.
