Bagot Station Barossa Valley Cabernet Merlot 2015
Region: Barossa Valley
The great believer in Barossa Merlot is Gibson wines. I have had many great wines made by the man. With this Bagot, Cabernet forms the back drop but the Merlot may have the greatest influence. Now for a bit of heresy.
I do not believe certain varieties are best in certain narrow climatic zones and Merlot in a warm climate can be very great indeed. Gibson wines sell out at $60 a bottle and I take note of that. This is a Benjamin special being rich and warm but with the spin of difference. Bagot represents what Glug wished to be back in 2004, making wines which taste good, but are complex and interesting, I stand back as we have delivered.
