Winemaker Innovation of Single Barrels
Glug GP07 Winemakers Individual Barrel Selection Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
The Barossa is famous for Shiraz yet Barossa Cabernets were seen as a standard Barossa variety by the Orlando family in the 1950s. Somewhere Cabernet lost appeal as a Barossa red.
By the 1980s Cabernet was widely planted in the Barossa Valley yet was used in blending not as a Barossa varietal red.
These Individual Barrel bottlings will show why Barossa Cabernet belongs again on your dining table.
Glug was involved with Barossa Cabernet from our early vintages in 2004 and 2005 though we did not take on grapes contracts until 2011.
We now understand the potential of this remarkable variety very well and Benjamin more recently has separated several of the best barrels to be released as Winemaker’s Individual Barrel Selections.
This GH07 Single Barrel will repay medium term cellaring though is gorgeous now.
