Glug Reserve Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
I drink a lot of Pinot Noir but there are more misses than hits. Cool to even colder climates make it difficult to ripen the grapes and these days I have little time for the less ripe years though do agree they make at times a welcome luncheon red.
The only problem I have with warm climate wines is familiarity can lead to a strain of monotony, as year after year they show more of less the same taste, because ripe grapes are assured.
There are vintage differences and as the years roll by 2016 will move further from 2017.
To make wines like this Reserve is why we came to the Barossa and Benjamin’s treatment of leaving the wines alone in high quality but mature oak for many years is paying off.
Wines like this are very stable and will age well.
