Karrawirra Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Region: Barossa Valley, South Australia
The first Karrawirra Glug released was the Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 a particularly fine vintage. There has been a Cabernet all but one vintage since the first and I hope an early Glug customer has them cellared as they would now make an interesting vertical tasting.
Glug are supporters of Barossa Cabernet and do not believe in the view that a grape variety only shows its best from a narrow climate band. Thus we also like Cabernet from Bordeaux or Margaret River, its just that they display a different taste.
The name Karrawirra goes back to the 1850s though as a wine label was first used by the Kies family, long time vignerons in the Southern Barossa, in 1968. Glug resurrected the brand for our premium quality fruit.
