Serious Rosé for Serious Drinkers
Glug W1681 Barossa Valley Grenache Mataro Rose 2019
Region:Barossa Valley, South Australia
What makes wine so interesting is the amazing range of tastes. A Barossa Rosé made in the traditional way from Grenache and Mataro is one of the great drinking pleasures. These two varieties only ripen to perfection in a warm climate and both reach flavour peaks in the Barossa Valley that are not achieved in other locations.
The traditional style which I define as being made with only these two varieties dates back to the 1950s and the first Kaiser Stuhl Rosés were made with Grenache. Traditional styles should also be dry and use Mataro which provides an appealing lifted twist on the back palate. If you want softness and sweetness this is not your style but if you want to be transported on a serious journey this Rosé is for you.
