Substantial Bold Barossan
Bengalee Barossa Valley Grenache 2018
Region: Barossa Valley, SA
The first Bengalee was made in 2008 with the first Grenache being from 2010. Grenache is one of the heritage varieties of the Barossa while also making profound complex wines which makes it a must for Glug. Alas the market place sees things differently and retail sales of 100% Grenache are about 0.2% of bottle wines and because of this Bengalee is only made in great vintages.
We are confident the popularity of Grenache will grow though this will take decades. Should you want flavour and warmth with a softer texture and a suggestion of a variety better for lunch than dinner then Barossa Grenache is the answer. All other Barossa characters are in place so fear not. Wines like this are made along the Southern Rhone, France but this Bengalee is better.
