Glug 'Rotwang' Barossa Valley Cabernedro 2016
Two Varieties Making Magic
Glug 'Rotwang' Barossa Valley Cabernedro 2016

Region: Barossa Valley
Rotwang may have been crazy though this blend shows the breadth and depth of what the Barossa offers. The idea that only Shiraz counts is just silly though I agree it is by far the biggest seller. Bonvedro is an old heritage variety that was only discovered a few vintages ago.

It had been misclassified as Cinsault when it likely was scooped up with a great number of old Portuguese varieties which were planted for the fortified business. Benjamin loves the variety and has blended it, accompanied with-as they say in food circles, with Cabernet.

Then the mad scientist in him invented the name Cabernedro. The result has less extract and body weight than Shiraz but all the Barossa flavour and again expands the idea of what you can expect from a Barossa red. Excellent result and quickly became a favourite of mine for warmer days.
