Wonderful Country For Cabernet
Oakley Adams Limestone Coast Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Region: Limestone Coast, SA
Back in the years 1999-2003 I drove every road and track that criss-crossed this vast plain in the south east corner of South Australia that we wine folk refer to as the Limestone Coast. I visited every vineyard though no doubt a few more have been planted.
Because it is such a vast area you will find vineyards adjacent to the Coast at the town of Robe or well inland, where it is much warmer around Bordertown. All make up the Limestone Coast which is a vast flat plain made of calcareous sediments and soils. It is great country for vineyards though too soggy in parts.
The attractive feature is the cooling influence of the vast Southern Mega Ocean and how this-melds with the inland heat-a perfect combination for Cabernet Sauvignon.
