New Barossa White
Salem Valley Barossa Valley Dry White 2018
Region: Barossa Valley, SA In 1953 Orlando released a Barossa Valley Riesling which created a sensation. Many great Barossa whites have been released since that moment which was helped by German refrigeration technology to control the fermentation.
If the white ferment is not slowed down by controlling the temperature of the ferment you can get problems and delicacy is lost. Up until a few years ago a mixed Barossa vineyard would have been 50% white varieties but not anymore. In general whites are better when grown in cooler climates.
However as expressed they are excellent and when half the price of the cool climate competitors it’s time to swing back. Thus this Salem Valley which we purchased from a local boutique winery demands your attention. I love the wine and at the price is recommended.
