Parawatta Eden Valley Shiraz 2013
Region: Eden Valley, SA
The Eden Valley is not a valley but a high plateau which adjoins the Barossa Valley to the east. Being several hundred metres higher the complexion of the wines alters and of course it is more favourable for whites than the Barossa.
We are always on the look out for reds as then we can offer the Barossa taste with a difference. We have some good contacts in the hills but alas cannot mention the source of this Parawatta. All wineries trade wine to balance out supply with sales. We sit in this loop and look at lots of small parcels.
More out of curiosity than potential purchases we also look at some of the very large lots, say 500,000 litres that are offered, as this helps us to calibrate the price we should offer for the things that do interest us.
And yes it is worth paying many more dollars per litre for the tiny amounts made bt artisans as they are better. You will see how much better when you try this delightful Shiraz from the Eden Valley.
