Spanish Variety Blossoms in Barossa Valley
Crayford Barossa Valley Tempranillo 2013
Region: Barossa Valley, South Australia
You make your own luck in any game and one way is to have many contacts. And so it was that Ben was offered this wine many months back; one sniff, one sip and it was ours.
The traditional varieties of the Barossa are not being replaced, rather varieties like Tempranillo are like new spices being introduced into the daily meal. It is one of several arrivals which show encouraging signs to make our daily fare more interesting. You do not need to be a genius to suggest what varieties will work. Take proven winners from warm climates in other countries, in this case Spain, and quietly introduce them to adventurous customers.
This wine was made at the Seppeltsfield winery, in the Barossa Valley and being only a jump away was soon in our warehouse. Ben then conducted numerous blending trials but pulled back and decided to leave this portion as purchased.
