All Barrels Firing Here!
Karrawirra Barossa Valley Single Vineyard 'The Nuriootpa' Shiraz 2010
Region: Barossa Valley, SA
If you want the best then look no further. A 'most' favoured artisan was the source and we were given our choice of the four barrels made. The vines are around 100 years old and the best guess is 110 years. So this is the real deal and perhaps I should add a 'big deal' as the wine is rare and special.
I may also report that Glug has made an art form out of packaging single barrels and tiny lots of wine so many more are flowing down the pipe line. I do not argue that such extremely localised wines (single vineyard) are better but at least part of our role is to bring them to your attention as we do not have the commercial pressures of most other companies.
We do though like the satisfaction of being able to say, this wine came from just that spot. In this case the vineyard had no name but as it was near the central Barossa town of Nuriootpa, I thought that would do. 30 cases made. Long cellaring potential.
