Hopcroft & Cornock McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Region: McLaren Vale, SA
Cabernets from McLaren Vale have over the last few years been winning many gold medals and trophies at our Royal State Wine Shows much to the embarrassment of those, like us, who see the area as first and foremost a shiraz region.
We purchased this wine already bottled from a grower-family (sorry they do want their name revealed) who own a vineyard in the Central-Southern McLaren Vale. The wine impresses with fruit, structure and length. You will not be disappointed and the price is very appealing.
We named this wine after two early farmers, Hopcroft and Cornock, who settled in McLaren Vale (called Gloucester back then) in 1839 and planted a small vineyard in 1840. Even the Hardy wine company admits they may have been the first vignerons in McLaren Vale and of course predate that famous firm by over 10 years.
