New Bunny Down on the Farm
Restless Farm 'The Bunny' McLaren Vale Shiraz 2015
Region: McLaren Vale, SA
The first release of the wines of Restless Farm was a Goat Shiraz 2008 from Padthaway. The range of animals has broadened but the idea remains which is to provide rich, deep Shiraz and Cabernets which emphasise, indeed push forward the fruit flavours - thus they offer lots of taste for a modest price.
There are many directions you can take the grape after harvest and the Restless wines by promoting fruit are not damped down by long fermentations with pips and skins and neither are they altered by maturation in new barrels or with oak chips.
To make this work you do need to use the fruit from warmer regions and Shiraz is the favoured variety. Smart and sophisticated are the Restless Farm wines and if we use one word to describe them they are 'bright'. Bright is a term used in the tasting of tea where it is used as 'the lifted taste that accentuates the good flavours of freshness'.
So 'The Bunny' is a smart, stylish, bright, vital, fruit driven wine which sings of the grape. That's the way they do things down on the Restless Farm.
