A Perfect Clare Valley Riesling
Edward Gleeson Wine Estates 'Donnybrook' Clare Valley Riesling 2011
Region: Clare Valley, SA
The natural tendency for wine folk who mostly adore rieslings is to buy far more than can possibly be sold as there are few retail customers. We have erred on the other side as we stock so few. This wine helps make up for this as it is magnificent being from several notable vineyards in the Watervale region in southern Clare.
The taste is soft and gentle but persistent and long. We named it after the tiny village of Donnybrook which is now part of the town of Clare. In its pioneering days there was quite a strong Irish settler influence in the Clare district as other small towns like Armagh illustrate.
Anyway we tracked the making of this batch of wine from the start and purchased half of that made. We have known the winemaker for a number of years and will work hard to retain his favour.
