Glug 'The Space Cadet' Barossa Valley Cinsault 2017
Region:Barossa Valley, SA
Cinsault has been around a very long time and now winemakers are beginning to understand its worth. Not all varieties should be treated the same and its takes a maturity of the industry to understand each one individually. You will be greatly impressed with this big Barossan though the texture is soft not firm. I dislike the term a luncheon red, but I like the idea of a softer red with less extract, perhaps a fuller bodied Pinot Noir, and if that appeals this is your wine. A big winery is a very busy place and they do a terrific job to bring a high-quality wine to the market but to do so every variety gets treated in a similar way. To bring out the best of Cinsault it needs to be treated like a school does with individually gifted children and this requires a small-scale approach. I do not think you need to be an advanced consumer to enjoy this wine but those who are deeply into wine will instantly see its appeal.
