Big New Barbarossa
Barbarossa Barossa Valley Dry Red Blend No.3 2014
Region: Barossa Valley
This incredibly good Barossa Valley blend was created to preserve a small parcel of very great wine.
The story thus far. We began Red Wine Trials in 2016 to test blending ideas, using less popular varieties, from premium regions along the Adelaidean-Mount Lofty Range. One success later became the ‘field blend’ of various Barossa Valley varieties now called Barbarosa.
Benjamin had been sitting on 190 litres of a fabulous Mataro from Neville Pfeiffer’s old Tanunda Block but it had no home. It had to be preserved at all costs and he found it was enhanced, not swamped, by the addition of 70 litres of Durif from Kalleske’s block in the northern Barossa and then polished with a drop of Cabernet.
This is one out of the box and again I must place a limit though Benjamin is certain it will cellar well so if you have a place the maximum becomes two cases per order, one for now and one for Ron.
