Joy At Last And Barossa
PPB Premium Private Bin 87 Barossa Valley Cabernedro 2016
Region: Barossa Valley
If you drink red at lunch please read on. I find I’m not quite in the mood for the style of red I drink in the evening so for decades have approached the red for lunch in a different way.
I want a proper wine not a light ‘wind-bag’ but real with a bit of dance on the palate. Thus exciting and fresh meaning I go for something younger; the word light is often used but I do not like that description as it may mean weak, lacking in character, and worse dull with lower flavour.
I like Beaujolais but it is so hit and miss and more miss than hit. I find what I want in young Italian reds like Barbaresco and Dolcetto, some Spanish and native varieties from all over plus wines made using whole bunch fermentation.
With this in mind we began making the Perfect Press from McLaren Vale Grenache, hit it with the Postcards Barbera and now Benjamin is off and running with this Barossa Valley Cabernedro, a blend of 67% Cabernet and 33% Bonvedro and it is sensational. Light but with 15% abv so I think you get the picture.
