Maritime Meets McLaren Vale
Hope Farm McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Region: McLaren Vale
Most if not all varieties make interesting wines across a wide range of climates. Many argue though that Cabernet Sauvignon achieves its most complex flavours in a maritime setting or near the sea.
It is generally agreed that the best come from Bordeaux, France with similar complex styles being made from coastal locations at Margaret River and parts of Chile. Like all generalities exceptions abound as we have Coonawarra, the Napa Valley of California and of course McLaren Vale.
McLaren Vale is further south than Margaret River yet the Cabernets are fuller and riper teaching us that small shifts in temperature quickly move standards around. This of course is why wine is such a wonderful beverage to study while consuming.
McLaren Vale Cabernets over recent decades has won many trophies which is one of the main reason we offer so many. This is the last Cabernet inspired by Nicholas Bourke before he handed over the reins to Benjamin Parker.
