Glug 'The Wayward Child' Barossa Valley Pinot Noir 2017
Region: Barossa Valley, SA
Lets go to the summation-this is a really great wine and cheap in price. I always like that combination and can I remind you of two of my favourite sayings:
1) drink what is in the glass not what you think from your knowledge;
2) always buy bargains when they drift past. So influenced as we are by the general belief that Pinot Noir in all forms must come from a cool climate here we are with a beauty from a warm climate.
It no doubt would be seen in judging circles as atypical and perhaps so but what trumps that is that it drinks really well. The old hand that I am also recalls that a Tyrrells Hunter Valley Pinot Noir from 1976 was anointed as one of the worlds great reds way, way, back.
Sensational bargain with loads of softly, textured golden ripe fruit. Deep colour, lots of aroma, plump and fat.
