Deep Rich Full Bodied
Crayford Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016
Region: Barossa Valley
Crayford is a classic range of 100% Barossa Valley wines, meaning they display bold, rich flavours made without tricks, offering what the majority of customers expect, deep colours with Barossa warmth. They became an early part of our catalogue with the first being a Shiraz Mataro 2007 and a Barossa Sangiovese 2006.
Oh boy how we would like to sample a range going back to the start as we have none in the tasting archive. The 2016 sits nicely with previous vintages though at this stage appears to have more weight suggesting a bright future.
From 1842 when the first settlers arrived in the Barossa tiny settlements proliferated as each group settled as a unit and it was much later before these communities became absorbed into bigger towns like Tanunda. Crayford dates to 1846 when a cluster of farms developed along the banks of Tanunda Creek and is now part of Tanunda. Glug has developed the brand as a tribute to those early pioneers.
